Generating Sales with a Facebook Chatbot
We recently set up a chatbot campaign for a single social media post and decided to write about my experience. The client is always looking for innovative ways to get people interested in his deals and offerings on social media.
After starting the build-out of this chatbot flow, we wanted to think about how to get as many leads and sales as possible from this “new-ish” marketing method.
So many people claim that Facebook is “dead”, and that reaching out to potential customers on the site just doesn’t work and is a waste of time and money.
We needed to create a cool post with an image and a keyword. Luckily for us, we are graphic designers because my client isn’t. Most small business owners don’t really know how to edit images. With this in mind, I decided to start by picking the keyword from the title of the offer the owner threw at me.

So we went to work on a cool little graphic image and decided that we wanted people who commented the word ‘DOORBUSTER’ to be entered!
Developing a Successful Chatbot
The first thing we needed to do here was set up a workflow for the bot that would start messenger when the user commented the word “DOORBUSTER”. We achieved this using our premium software and made it kind of fun for the users. The first message they got told them to reply to this message in order to confirm they wanted to be entered into the contest. Once they did that, the fun really started!
We decided to boost the post for $20 which was the cost of one sale from this promotion. We targeted Facebook users in the local geographic area just to test it. The result? 96 leads with 18 sales the first day, with another 19 more leads added and 21 sales the second day!
